I’ve recently made the decision to cut back on my alcohol consumption. Not eliminate entirely, just cut down. I love the Black Butte Porter and I have it in my frig. The n/a version stands shoulder to shoulder with the full alcohol version and I love both of them and the n/a allows me to enjoy my BB Porter without the calories or alcohol. I made the decision to cut alcohol out of my life. But I love beer. Conundrum!
I have been doing a lot of auditioning of different N/A beers. Some are good, some suck, but Black Butte is the first beer that I have gone ahead and purchased by the case through the brewery! I am delighted by a rich and flavorful brew that mimics a true porter in every way but with a slightly lighter body, which actually makes it drinkable out of what I consider porter/stout season. Nice work Deschutes! You are making it endlessly easier for me to stick to my guns. I don't have to crave a good beer after a long day or with my friends at a BBQ... I have one!
